So it made many of us locals very happy when two of our beloved beaches were recognized among the best in Asia.

The sand here is soft and pale, stretching for a long distance along the coast. It’s the kind of beach where you can walk for a long time without feeling crowded.
But the biggest attraction in Bentota is adventure.

What makes this award especially impressive is how competitive it is.
Out of more than eight million listings on the platform, less than one percent receive this recognition.
So when two Sri Lankan beaches appear on the list, it shows how strongly travelers connect with the island’s natural beauty.
Asia’s Top Beach This Year
While Sri Lanka celebrated its two rankings, the number one beach in Asia this year went to Banana Beach in Phuket.
Still, being ranked among Asia’s best is something Sri Lankans feel proud about.
